German Insurance Requirements

Most German home insurance policies require locks certified to DIN EN 1627 resistance class RC 2 (formerly WK 2) for full burglary coverage. If your door has a standard builder-grade lock, a break-in claim could be partially or fully rejected. We check your door and lock against your policy requirements and advise on what needs upgrading.

What We Offer

  • Security assessment — we inspect your door, frame, hinges, and cylinder and identify weak points
  • Certified cylinder replacement — RC 2 / RC 3 high-security cylinders from ABUS, Evva, Mul-T-Lock, and Kaba
  • Door reinforcement — anti-drill plates, security strike boxes, hinge bolt reinforcement
  • Additional protection — door chains, door viewers, window locking pins
  • Documentation — certificate of installation for your insurance file

Apartments and Rental Properties

For expats renting in Germany: most German landlords allow tenants to upgrade the lock cylinder (Schließzylinder) without modifying the door. At the end of the tenancy, the original cylinder is simply refitted. We carry out upgrades in compliance with your rental contract.

Pricing

A security consultation is free when combined with an installation. RC 2 certified cylinder replacements start at €120 including fitting. Full door security packages vary by door type — we quote on-site.
